WOW.....that is all I have to say. 10 lbs this week. I went to the Y today and used the same scale from a week ago and I have dropped 10 lbs (11 w/o shoes). I really haven't worked out too much this week. I biked for an hour and that was like 450 cals and lifted some weights but that has been it. The difference is in my diet! I stopped stuffing myself and I stopped treating myself.
If we have ever shared a meal together, you know I have no regard for what I eat.
I eat to satisfy my selfish desires. I like desert and for the most part unhealthy foods.
The past 7 days have been a total change for me, the only burger I had was from Natures Express and that was a vegi-burger so it doesn't count. The rest of my meals were low glucose items and they were all before 6 pm and I want to push that back an hour, so my last meal will be at 5pm.
These things have really helped. I have just replaced my normal meals with better stuff. I do however still have a craving for sweets. Luckily the swans guy came by on Tuesday and I picked up some 50 cal / no sugar / fat-free ice cream bars.
Well that's it for now.

Day 1
Well, I have neglected this blog for a while. It is a good thing I didn't make this a campaign promise. That's all going to change now! At least for the next 8 weeks.
Today, October 23, 2009, we (the community of Yuma) started "the" weight loss challenge. The cities of Yuma Arizona and Yakima Washington have engaged in a friendly competition to become more active and lose weight together.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed both cities for having a larger than normal population that are inactive. The newspapers in both Yakima (www.yakima-herald.com) and Yuma (www.yumasun.com) are behind this and are keeping track of the competition.
I am going to update my blog a lot during this competition. I'll list the activities that I am doing, the progress that I make, the tips that I am following (and don't), the things I eat and my workout routine. I have been receiving a lot of advice lately. I am thankful for that advice, I just have to adjust it and use it to fit me. So that might be combining a lot of programs into one that works for me.
I should start with the goals. My first goal is lose 2 lbs a week, so 16 lbs total. I have been told this is pretty aggressive, however I am still going to stick with it. Isn't the point of having a goal to achieve something aggressive? I hope I can change my diet to make up most of the loss. My second goal is to improve my jogging speed. The last 5k I was in I ran an 11 minute mile. So I would like to shave that down a few minutes. In the 27's to 29's area we be nice. The most imporant goal is to set a physical activity into my daily routine and life. I'll add more goals along the way.
Day 1
Weight: 237 lbs
Activities:
Diet: Nothing since the weigh-in.
Notes: From this point forward, I am going to take the stairs everywhere I go. No more elevators, simple things like that can add up to real numbers.
